We all have to wear clothes, it’s just a fact of life, so here at SomeWhat strange we feel that it’s of vital importance that we do as little harm to the environment as we can whilst still making them stylish and long lasting.
That’s why we only use 100% recycled fabrics for every item we make.
All of it comes from used vintage stores, op shops and pieces we find on our travels. Hardly anything is brought brand new, thus cutting down the need to produce more and more fabric. All of our hand picked material has a story to tell and we add to that story by giving it a new lease of life, allowing it to live on and not rot as landfill.
It also means that we find some rare and beautiful remnants of years gone by.
Where ever possible we reuse and repurpose buttons, zips and all other bits and bobs on our clothing and everything is laundered using eco-friendly washing liquid and Fabric Softener.
When posting things out to you we use recycled packaging, unfortunately we have to use a courier firm to deliver items ( We would love to hand deliver to your door but it’s a long walk to somewhere like Darwin from Sydney)
We think our way of producing clothing is one of the least impactful on the environment. We don’t poison rivers with toxic dyes, we don’t degrade the soil through the use of poisonous chemicals, we actively save fabric from landfill and our carbon footprint is tiny. Although we’re not perfect, simply by being we are adding to the planet’s problems, but we are trying.
